Potty Training Perhaps?

So the last two days Raya has been coming to me and pointing to her diaper and talking gibberish...and when I say "do you need your diaper changed?" she shakes her head yes and walks to her changing table, still pointing at her diaper (as though I'm going to forget where we're going haha). Makes me wonder if maybe she's nearing readiness for trying some early potty training?! I haven't done anything with it yet, but I might try putting her on the potty now every time I go, just to see what happens. In other news, she continues to do TONS of talking (gibberish mostly, but man she sure knows what she's saying!) haha...long drawn out conversations and she looks at me talking me ear off as though I'm totally supposed to know what she's saying lol. She's been a horrible napper lately, only sleeping barely 2 hours the whole day if I"m lucky, but today she actually is going on 2.5 hours so I thought I better sneak in an update now while I can!!

Ok, now for some pics :-) Missy Moe is still obsessed with her books!

You can see here how she's talking about the book....gibberish of course....but it was an entire narrative!

I love her little crossed ankles in this one :-P

Then the other night before her bath she ran around like a drunkard....all disshelved and drinking out of multiple sippys, b/c one just wasn't enough!

She was a stumbling fool with all that hair in her face!

Lastly, yesterday we had a movie party haha. She was totally into it--with her movie beverage of course!

That's all for today folks! Once Miss Raya wakes up from her nap I think we're going to get supplies to make rice krispie bars...yum! (Blame pregnancy cravings :-)

24 weeks belly pics (Brielle)

I'm currently in my 24th week of pregnancy with Brielle...yay! Thought I should take another baby belly pic :-)

For comparison, here is my belly at 24 weeks with RAYANA:

And here it is with BRIELLE:

For some reason with this pregnancy I FEEL tons smaller than I did with Raya, but looking at the pics I don't see much difference--I think it might just be in my head since for so long I was told Brielle was measuring small :-P I think I'm definitely carrying Brielle lower than I did Raya though--if you compare my Raya belly with the first Brielle belly you can see how much lower my current belly is!!!! That probably explains why she's constantly kicking my pubic bone and why my fundal height always measures short this time....b/c she's sitting so low!! Overall though I'm feeling really good, I've been sleeping pretty well, rarely have any nausea anymore....it's that wonderful middle part of pregnancy! :-) I'm not looking forward to getting fatter and having trouble  breathing, lifting Raya, walking stairs, etc....oy oy oy. I know it's coming though! Good thing it's short lived, and with any luck my baby belly will disappear really quickly after she's born just like it did with Raya!!

In Raya  news (no pics...sorry!!!) she had kindermusik again today and did great! Then we had to babysit for our former sitter while she went to the doctor, so we went over and played with all the daycare kids this afternoon and Raya loved chasing them all around haha. Although the kids did tattle on her multiple times that she was hitting :-0  She doesn't hit hard at all, but does it to get other kids' attention haha.

I think she's really starting to hit a language burst too! This last week shes doing tons and tons of babbling--the kind of babbling that is complete "sentences" with inflection and intonation etc. Sometimes we swear we hear her say really elaborate things, but I think she just manages to get lucky that her babbling sounds English sometimes haha. She also, for the first time this week, came up to me and put her arms up and said "up" all on her own, without me prompting her to say up first. She'll be backtalking in no time now! :-P

That's all for tonight's update...later!

New stroller! ...and other misc.

So last week when I was back  home I got the double stroller that my parents so kindly bought for our baby gift! I had picked it out online, but had never seen it in person, so this weekend Lee helped me put it together so that we could see it for ourselves....I love it!!

It has 2 red seats, but we had taken the back seat off to try out our carseat with it...baby Brielle will  probably ride in her carseat when she's really little, b/c being the dead of winter I won't want to mess with getting her out of her carseat and putting her into the stroller seat. Can't believe I'll soon be pushing TWO baby girls around!

My favorite part? That it has the largest storage basket known to man!! :-)
When Raya got up the next morning I had her try it out. She LOVED it!! She threw a tantrum when I tried taking her out haha. We eventually had to put it downstairs b/c she kept crying and wanting to get in it!

This is what it  looks like when Raya's seat is turned to face me

In other news, today while Lee went fishing (the  poor guy was rained out of the fishing trip with her work buddies yesterday, and then today his friend that was supposed to go with was sick, and had been in the hospital yesterday! So then he called his neighbor friend, who was also home sick!! ...so he had to go fishing by himself haha) Raya and I went into town to Petsmart--to see the animals!--and then to Barnes and Noble, where I found a great clearance on some books!!! Raya had so much fun checking out her new books...

This book  even makes noise!

Thanks for the books Mama!

Check out her shirt...do you know the answer  to the question it poses?

The answer is "Raya" of course!!!

16 months old

On Saturday Miss Raya turned 16 months old! Some facts about her at this age are:

She is now in size 5 diapers (size 4 still fit, but we have fewer leaks with size 5), she's wearing size 12-18 months or size 18-24 month in most things, wearing size 5 shoes, she says a few words but will repeat or try to repeat most anything! Many of her  words are still only  understandable if you know what she's trying to say though, she consistently knows where her ears are and usually gets eyes, nose, and mouth correct, she is getting really good at animal sounds and can say what a puppy, owl, cat, cow, duck, and bird say....she repeats a lot of other animal sounds too. She's pretty much walking like a pro now, but sometimes her shoes trip her up a little haha. She's just started climbing up on our couch without help, which is pretty annoying b/c I used to hide the remote up above the couch and now she can find it easily! Her receptive language is really good for her age (I think anyways :-) and if you say "go throw this away in the garbage" she will, or you can say "let's eat" or "let's change your diaper" and she immediately goes to the right place. You can also tell her to go get the puppy's their ball or bone or whatever and she'll go into their toy box and find the dog toy you requested :-) She's got a really good arm and throws overhand with pretty good accuracy! She's down to only one nap per day--in the afternoon for 2-3 hours. She likes her "shows" now and during breakfast and lunch I let her watch whatever is on--her favorites are Sid the Science Kid, Barney, and Super Why. She still LOVES being outside and shows a lot of interest in other kids. I believe that's about all  I can think of right now! :-)

My 16 month old beauty!

Still loves to play in my tupperware cabinet!

On Tuesday we went home for a visit. Raya had fun playing with Grandpa F, who had the week off

And she had fun with Grandma too, but those pics are on my mom's camera!

Then Wednesday we went over to Aunt Emily and Uncle John's and Raya had a playdate with cousin Sawyer! Raya is soooo funny around  Sawyer anymore....she honestly acts like a middle school girl crushing! She follows him around hugging him, and whenever he sits down she tries to sit as close to him as possible, sometimes even sitting on his lap!! Whenever he does or says anything even remotely funny she laughs hysterically, like it's the funniest thing that's ever happened in her life lol. She just adores her big cousin!!! (And he's tolerating her  pretty well anymore, now that she's big enough to actually play with him!)

Here they are having breakfast together....Raya just thought the way he drank his milk was hilarious!

Miss Harper is still in the  boring baby stage haha. She just ate and slept the whole time! She's a big eater Emily said

Surprisingly though, Raya is showing more interest in the baby. When we're not watching she goes over and "hits" Harper....but it's  not to be mean, I think she just likes the cause and effect of seeing a sleeping baby and then smacking the baby  to see her startle!!! I have to watch her very very closely now haha

Hi baby

SMACK!
But  mama, I want to hit her again!

I can't wait until another month or so when Miss  Harper starts staying awake to play a little...what will  Miss Raya think then?! :-P

Lastly, here was Raya rockin' her very "cool" outfit the other day...she wasn't posing very well for me though, little stinker

Being a goof in her highchair for Mama

Can't wait to see how much she changes this next month.....she's at such a fun age right  now, I love it!!!  Do you hear that Miss Brielle? You better come out of the womb with some pretty cool and entertaining tricks to keep up with your sister's fun factor! :-P

Minnesota Vacation 2010

We had a wonderful time on vacation this weekend! The weather was awesome (highs in the 60s, so it was perfect sweatshirt weather--and no rain at all!) and Raya was such a good girl! Despite having little to no nap time she was in a great mood and kept us laughing the whole time. Lee even seemed to have a really good time, even though zoos aren't really his thing. He enjoyed spending the extra time with Raya and she became quite the Daddy's girl! When he'd leave the hotel room to go get something for example she'd stand at the door waiting for him, whimpering a pitiful "dada? dada???" WHen I asked her why she always says dada and not mama she looked at me real serious and said "mama"....it was like she was thinking "what the hell lady, I can say mama just fine, I'm just choosing not to!" :-P

Ok, now for the pictures! Friday we left our place around 11am. Raya was ready to hit the road!

We stopped for lunch along the way and then arrived at our destination around 3pm. We ended up finding a hotel close to the Mall of America (it was a really nice room...and they had an awesome all you can eat sit down breakfast buffett...yum!) and we got ready for that night's baseball game. Then we rode the transit train from Mall of America down to the stadium...it was really easy and the train dropped us off litterally steps from the stadium entrance so no walking at all! It was about a 30 minute ride down, and Raya did pretty well, considering. She struggled a little bit b/c she really wanted to get down and run around the train, but as we got closer to the stadium it got more and more crowed and she had to sit on our laps, much to her dismay :-P

Here are Daddy and Raya posing on the train in their Twins gear. Lee picked up a hat to wear, since we aren't normally Twins fans and he had nothing festive. Everyone loved Raya's Twins shirt I made her though...she looked like a true fan from head to toe!

Once we got to the game we got ourselves a pizza and found  our seats. Our seats were waaaay up at the top, but we actually had an excellent view behind home plate and it was really cool sitting so high up! We fed Raya full of pizza and kettle corn to keep her happy haha. Overall the game was the most trying time for Miss Raya, b/c it was a sold out crowd so she had to stay on our laps, which she isn't a fan of anymore. As long as she was eating though she was fine!

Family pic...with pizza faced Miss  Raya :-)   ...it looks like no one was sitting behind us, but they were just out of their seats at the time....we weren't all alone up there :-P

We had a great view of the skyline...such a beautiful night!

Go Twins!

Around the 7th inning Miss Raya was getting really tired so we left our seats and pushed her around in her stroller...she fell right asleep!! Then we watch the rest of the game....they lost unfortunately, but still fun!

After the game we took  the transit train back  to our car and Raya slept the whole time, even with the crowds of people....she was beat!

Saturday morning we went to the Minnesota Zoo...Raya and Lee's first zoo experience ever!

We had great weather again too. It was a little chilly at first so we went to the indoor part to begin with, and within an hour or so the temp was up and it was perfect sweater weather. The zoo was really nice....looked mostly new and the animals seemed well cared for. It was the perfect size for Raya's first zoo trip b/c we were able to walk the entire thing in about 3.5 hours. They didn't have a lot of the more exotic animals due to the weather MN has, so like no elephants, girraffes, zebras, pandas, etc...but they did have some cool animals like grizzlies and tigers and a nice indoor area with a few monkeys and such. It actually didn't matter much what animals they had though b/c Miss Raya is just like her dang daddy....her favorite parts by far were the fish! She could have stayed staring at the aquariums forever...and we're not talking colorful tropical fish....she loved watching the river fish like bass and carp! haha...lee would explain the fish to her and she'd walk around pointing at the fish and waving "hi!" at each one. Too funny. She also loved the otters.

Raya's favorite part!

Raya did NOT like one particular animal....can you guess what she was frantically trying to get away from ?

Yep, a little old crocodile haha

She did like watching the monkeys....they were squealing really loud!

We had to take turns lifting her up to see things b/c dang, she's heavy!

This guy was pretty cool

But my favorite part...the grizzlies! They were playing right next to the glass window!!! They wrestled for a really long time and I just kept thinking how I wouldn't want one of them stumbling upon my campsite...they're huge!!! Raya barked at them haha

Raya was a little walking machine and knew exactly where she was going too...a lady on a mission!

It was so much fun going to a zoo with a kid now, as opposed to by  myself b/c she is actually starting to show interest and get excited about what she sees! She was still on the young side a little bit I think....probably next year will be a really good age to take her when she actually knows more of what she's seeing....but she was definitely interested this time! She probably would have been equally interested in our backyard though haha...but that wouldn't  have been nearly as fun :-P

Hurry up Mama! We've got animals to see!!!!

Perhaps her  favorite part of the whole day though? They had a farm section with a petting zoo type thing....(oh no, that wasn't her favorite....she was horrified at the thought of touching animals haha)....but outside the farm area was a playground....THAT was her favorite part of the whole day!!!!! :-)

Come on dada!!

We had a cheerio snack at the farmhouse...refueling the baby!

After her snack she was ready to keep going!! She was pretty interested in the camels.

Mama, why are they all in a pile like that? Hmmm....I  wonder....

Some more animals...

After the zoo Raya had a 20 minute cat nap in the car and that was the only time she slept the entire day!! We found a hotel for our 2nd night (couldn't stay at the same hotel again b/c they were booked for Saturday) and after settling in to our new room we drove over to the mall of america for a late lunch. Then, although our feet were killing us, and my back felt like I was 9 months pregnant, and my pelvis felt like Brielle could fall on the floor at any moment, I decided that I really wanted to check  out the mall of america for a little while since we were here. So Lee took Raya on a daddy/daughter trip to the mall's aquarium exhibit while I went shopping for a couple hours.

The mall was CRAZY though! Between it being a Saturday and also there was a scrapbooking convention going on....so it was packed! I  only  lasted a couple hours before I was ready to go lay down haha. But it was still fun to check it out for awhile. Lee said Raya  enjoyed her aquarium too lol...she had  to have been just  exhuasted, but  he said she never fell  asleep....just  quietly checked out  all  the displays :-) He had strict orders from me to document his fun with her in pictures, but I guess the camera didn't work well in there because  it was dark and full  of glass walls etc....so he bought the little picture they took of him and Raya so that I  could have a souvenir hehe.

Daddy/daughter fun in the shark  tunnel!

He said that although she loves aquariums, she did NOT like these guys at all!!

This is more her style :-)

After Lee and Raya  met back up with me at the mall we discovered, much to our horror, that Raya had peed through her clothes....she was soaked! And of course I didn't have any change of clothes in her diaper bag b/c it was full of so much other crap from our trip...so the poor girl had to do a "walk of shame" pantless out of the mall haha. She didn't seem to care though....rather than try to make a quiet exit she danced in her stroller and waved at everyone walking by, so that they were sure to notice the half naked dancing and waving baby haha.

After we all cried "uncle!" out of exhaustion at the mall  we went back  to the hotel and relaxed! Then we went out for a icecream run before an early bedtime for everyone!

Sunday morning we got ready to head home...Missy Moe waited patiently to hop in the shower with daddy...

Then she had fun running around the hotel room naked and trying to hide from me :-P

Daddy worked on packing everything up....he had the pack and play packed and ready to go, but  now where'd Raya go?!

THERE she is! :-P

While we finished packing Raya danced around the room...she LOVES to dance now...especially since she'd been so deleriously tired all weekend I think haha

Her official verdict? FUN WEEKEND!

I think next spring before the weather gets hot we are going to try taking Raya and Brielle to either the des moines zoo or omaha zoo...Raya will be at a really great age then! We'll have  to see which one has the most fish :-P
