Randomness

What a dreary, rainy day! Hope the weather improves before our wedding reception tonight! Thought I'd do a quick, somewhat random update, while Raya eats breakfast and Brielle naps--the house is sparkling clean now so I don't really  have  anything better to do! haha.

Here are a couple pics from last night with Raya showing Daddy how she can play her new icecream game (oh, and the book was one of our library books---she loves it b/c the pages pull out and become a long parage of animals!)

Although the little stinker likes to make me look like a liar, b/c  I was telling Lee how she could label the colors and then she  did about 3 of them before turning goofy and deliberately labeling the wrong ones! She'd slowly put the label on the wrong one and then look at me and laugh and say "noooooo" b/c that's what I tell her when she gets it wrong. So Lee was less than impressed haha

By the way, in case you missed my edited update to the last entry, Lee agreed to get that art/craft table  for Raya--yay! I just had to promise to take down the pack and play from the living room, b/c he wanted to know where I was planning to put this giant desk haha. Brielle doesn't really need the pack and play out here anymore b/c she's getting bigger, so we're just going to put that back  in the storage room and let the craft table take it's place :-)

Since Brielle hasn't had a nice picture in the last couple days, here ya go

We just decided to wear this pretty dress from cousin Harper for no reason...we can  look  cute lounging on a Saturday right? ;-)

Brielle has really been moving a lot lately! She doesn't like her belly, but  when she's on her back she gets spinning in circles and *almost*rolls from her back to her belly--she just can't get that arm out of the way to officially flip. Such a big girl! She also like to sit up and hold onto my hands and then lean way back, before I pull  her up again. She has really good head control now!

Last night I was able to get the last 2 of my online Etsy sales finished--haven't had a new sale in a couple days which is actually good b/c I need time tomorrow to finish up my order for the mall store. We have to deliver that order on Monday.

To end, here are a few new favorites of mine on Etsy :-)

The lady I got that learning kit from just came out with a new kit--it seems really cute! I'm going to try making my own that's similiar, now that I have my laminator: http://www.etsy.com/listing/73093365/sweet-treats-themed-kit

I've seen some ADORABLE pillows on Etsy lately. They seem like something I could make myself, so if we ever move into a new house I think I'm going to make myself some cute new throw pillows! Here are a couple I like:

There are just TONS of cute pillows on Etsy.

This one makes me laugh haha: http://www.etsy.com/listing/56354685/lets-make-out-cocoa-and-oatmeal-16-inch?ref=sr_list_1&ga_search_query=let%26%2339%3Bs+make+out+pillow&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_facet=handmade  (although who in god's name would pay this much for a pillow?! I mean, it'd be really easy to make yourself!)

Love something like this for a kid's room: http://www.etsy.com/listing/72578844/paisley-cats-zillow-pillow

I'm LOVING this shop--they make owl hats from recycled sweaters: http://www.etsy.com/shop/freckletree?ref=seller_info

Lastly, how cute are these flower hat photo props?! Maybe for baby girl number 3 Grandma F? hehe: http://www.etsy.com/listing/72973415/flower-bonnet-photo-prop-crochet-pattern

Happy Saturday!

Free to a good home

You may think my title refers to one (or both) of my girls--which some days I feel like  it could! haha-- but today it refers to our house, because I am so sick of being on the market!! We had gotten kind of lax about keeping the house in show condition because it had been about 3 weeks since we've had a showing and our plan was to clean it this weekend and then reduce the price for next week. Well go figure, late yesterday afternoon I get a phone call from the realtor that they wanted to do a showing the next morning--THIS MORNING. Ugh! So all last night Lee and I had to franctically clean, mop, vacuum, dust, fold and put away like 5 loads of laundry, get my sewing room all picked up and put away, hide all the kids toys/high chair/etc., and then this morning I had to get myself and both girls and both dogs out of the house--just kill me! Last night I didn't get to bed until 1am and then Brielle had me up at 6:50am for the day....so I"m pretty sleepy. Plus I had planned to work on my wholesale order for the store at the mall last night, but instead I cleaned so I still have 3 shirts left to sew and 10 clippies to make, before Monday. Pity party for 1 please.

And the worst part? Coming home to see that the people obviously weren't interested....basically nothing had been touched, they didn't  take any handout or disclosure statement, etc....so frustrating. Nothing has sold in this area in over 60 days....the market is sooooo slow. At least there isn't a single thing at our new location we want either. The one house that we thought might be OK (a lot of stuff we hadn't liked still, like the tiny kitchen, but it was doable) well that house sold and now all that's on the market are a bunch of subdivision houses which Lee really doesn't like the idea of. And we don't want to settle on a house that we don't LOVE b/c you will literally be dragging my dead body from this next house, because I am never selling and moving again! Ever!

Rant over. Now for some pictures :-) While I had to get everyone out of the house today we first went to the library (first time since Brielle was born) and Raya had fun playing and picking out books. Then we went to Toys R Us to "play"...not buy anything....but  silly Raya only wanted to push a stupid umbrella stroller she found (a stroller for a human child, not a doll stroller) so basically Mama looked at the toys while Raya entertained herself for an hour with the umbrella stroller LOL. Then we went to Burger King b/c Raya has never been to a fast food place with a playcenter thing, so I thought we'd try it. Well it was a huge bummer b/c they designed it so that she was too little to play on anything! The only way to get to the tunnels and slides was to climb up this giant 8 foot high platform staircase thing and Raya was way too short to pull herself up. So the poor thing sat pitifully watching the bigger kids and saying "help mama!" :-( So after we were done eating I said  I'd take her to the park instead. We went to the park near our house and she had so much fun!!!

It would have been a super nicce day, except it was really windy. But Raya didn't  seem to mind! She just ate a little of her hair :-P

She's at a really fun age for the park now. She can do everything by herself so I can just sit off to the side and let her have fun! Last year she *just* started walking at the end of the summer and still needed help climbing the stairs and walking without falling...I think we'll be doing a lot of park playing this summer!

Can you see Miss Raya?

Unfortunately there weren't any other kids there today to play with.

Sorry Grandma, your little  Brielle didn't get in pictures today....she was sleeping!

Was too scared to do the curly twisty slide until I did it first....then she thought it was fun!

In other random news, last night I found the PERFECT birthday gift for Raya! Let's everyone help me convince Lee that we need to get it for her :-P Technically we got her this dvd player for the car for her birthday, which she does like:

However I don't think it should really count as her birthday present b/c she got it way early and we didn't even wrap it or say it was for her birthday--it just showed  up in the mail  one day and he popped it in the car. THIS is what I found last night that I (I mean Raya) REALLY wants!
http://www.step2.com/product.cfm?product_id=1558#pr-header-883300

She would totally love this! We could do all her coloring and crafts and "games" at it and I'd have a place to store all her crayons  and coloring books. Plus I love that the shelf on top can me moved all the way back to be one giant desk or you put it in the middle and have a kid sit on either side--it comes with 2 stools. Raya and Brielle could share! It has awesome reviews too and everyone says it's really big and study and lasts for kids well into kindergarten+ age range. I tried convincing Lee last night to get it while it's on sale, but he claims that Raya's costly dress alterations used the money that he would have been willing to spend on this desk....so now I'm on a mission to convince  him otherwise ;-P You can find cheaper (smaller) desks but  I really like this giant one--We totally need another giant peice of colorful plastic in our house :-)

**EDITED TO ADD, Daddy got off work early today and was in a good mood and said go ahead and buy the desk for Miss Raya, so we did! Yay!! She's going to love it!!!

Oh, in WW news, I weighed myself this morning expecting the worst (I mean, I pigged out at Easter and the days following eating Rayas candy and leftover pie....) and to my shock and happy surprise I was actually DOWN another 1lb! No idea how that happened, but I 'aint complaining!!!

Oh, and in tot school news, yesterday (before I got the phone call the spurred a frantic cleaning spree) I made Raya this awesome icecream cone game! You can find it here: http://www.first-school.ws/activities/crafts/colors/icecreamcone2.htm    I love it for many reasons. One, Raya LOVES icecream! It really gets her attention and we spent time "licking" the icecream, etc. haha. Two, it's really big! I printed off 10 scoops of icecream and when you stack them all up the icecream cone is about as tall or taller than Raya....so you can really get on the floor and play around with it like a giant puzzle. After I printed and laminated the cone and icecream scoops I used scrapbooking stickers to label each scoop of icecream 1-10. Then I also printed and laminated the color words. How we play is I stack up the scoops of icecream in number order and Raya counts (she can't count unassisted, but if I say 1, 2.... then she'll say what comes next "3"....and she gets most of them right :-) and then after it's all stacked I give her the color words and she labels the scoops of icecream all by herself! She's really good!!!! She looks at the color word (printed in the color) and matches it to the icecream scoop. She loves it.

New shoes

Raya's new  favorite thing? These:

Yesterday when we ran to town I picked these up for her at Payless for like $10. I had realized that she didn't have any dress shoes, other than her flower girl shoes....and I didn't really want her to wear her flower girl shoes to the wedding this weekend and risk her scuffing them all up, etc. These little pink flats go perfectly with her colorful polkadot dress for this weekend, and she LOVES them. Like begs to wear them around the house 24-7 haha. At least they are cute! :-)

Raya's other love? Well, her "hoo hoos" of course! She is only supposed to have these in bed, but today she snuck them out to play. When I "caught" her she  hugged them tightly and looked so cute I had to let  her keep them :-P

Don't  even ask...

What is Brielle's favorite thing? Well NOT her big sister, who hit her on the head and left a red mark! See it?

"It's been a rough day people."

How/why did Raya hit  her? Well, let's just say the child is crazy, and anything that gets in her way is in danger...

Lil' Sis--in the spotlight

Raya who? Today's post is focused on that sweet, adorable baby #2--Miss Brielle!

My smiley girl

I distinctly remember the day Raya wore this outfit, so I was able to look it up on my blog and find a picture to compare hehe

Pretty sure I hit the genetic jackpot, getting such an adorable little girl twice! :-)

This morning we ran to the mall, b/c  I had to pick up some 18 month onesies in order to fulfill that order for the store at the mall--let's just say I was pushing a big  double stroller around and it was empty! Brielle screamed until I wore her in my wrap, and  Raya kept saying she wanted to "play", which meant running around like a crazy child. Of course when I actually did stop to let her play on the equipment she decided to throw a tantrum for snack instead. I tell ya, the terrible  2's have arrived! :-)

Raya wore her new purple shirt and shoes from the Easter Bunny--and then we had this jacket that Grandma F. had bought her for next year, but we just rolled up the sleeves and let her test it out today

Ok, back to little sister :-)

I had her  try on the hat we had bought her to go with the dress she's wearing to the upcoming weddings....it fits now!

The girls are going to be so stinkin' cute  this weekend in their matching dresses :-) I love the way this hat highlights her chubby cheeks! hehe

Eyelashes to envy...

"Bye bye everyone! Hope you loved all the pictures of me today!"

Messy "stuff" and Tot School

So yesterday on our way back home we had to stop and get Raya fitted to have her flower girl dress hemmed. Oh my god, what a disaster. The alterations cost $80.25...like basically I bought the dress twice! That sucker is going on craigslist the day after the wedding haha. Long story short, I  thought they'd just hem the bottom. Well the lady started by pinning the little shoulder straps up, and I said "oh, you're going to do that instead?" and thought to myself hey, that's probably even cheaper...yay. Well that wasn't enough to make it short enough so then she starts pinning the hem. At this point Raya is tantruming b/c they lady doesn't just pin one section, she pins like the entire bottom of the dress (why she couldn't just do one part and then pin the rest later on her own I have no idea. She i'm dealing with Raya and not even thinking anymore about cost and we finally get done and get Raya dressed and I go to pay and she gives me the price--$30 for the shoulders and almost $50 for the hem! At that point I debated just  saying I wanted the dress back  and I'd do it myself (although I have no idea how to sew tulle, and that's what the hem needed done). Then i thought about saying "leave the shoulders alone and just do the hem", but that would have required getting Raya back in the dress to re-pin everything, and at this point Raya is running through the store like a banchee :-P So instead I just kept my mouth shut and paid....but it's annoyed me ever since LOL. I'm in the wrong business!

So after that ordeal I rewarded Raya  with a trip next door to Hobby Lobby (b/c during her tantrum at the store I was promising her everything under the sun to just stand still and be good haha). At Hobby Lobby we picked up crayons for the white board (shout out to my friend  Terri who told me about these, after seeing my post about Raya making a huge mess with the white board markers and basically making me high with the marker fumes :-). So anyways, Terri, the crayons were a big hit! Just "special" enough from normal crayons that they entertained her, and no fumes!

This is where Mama was an idiot. Instead of just stopping with a good thing--no mess crayons--I also buy her "window crayons". Yeah, let's just say those were a HUGE hit, but back to being messy hahaha

Thankfully they do wash off very easily.

Continuing the messy theme, last night after dinner Raya got to enjoy one of her Easter suckers

Which brings us to today. We've had a very educational morning! Followed by PBS tv and Raya down for her nap (yay :-)

We've built forts...

Brielle practiced sitting up (and fighting off Raya)

Yes, I'm aware Brielle's outfit is mismatched. It was a busy morning :-P

Then Raya did about an hour of "games"....she loves all her new learning stuff. Remember those Etsy learning kits I talked about awhile back? I had bought one for Raya's Easter basket? She loves it. She asks to play her "games" all the time. They only hold her attention for 3-5 minutes before we have to pick a new game, but it's perfect b/c all of the activities are quick to do ;-)

Here she is color matching---she can do this all by herself--a smart girl!

Then a fine motor activity. She likes to put the little animals "nigh nigh" in the pill box haha

Sometimes she taste tests them too :-P

And perhaps her favorite thing....putting the animals in a plastic egg and "shake! shake!" -ing them :-)

Then we've also been playing many of the activities that I printed and laminated the other day. Like I said, many are for older kids, but she does do very well with some of the activities. Her favorite so far is the shape matching--she can do this all by herself too!

She is so proud of herself when she gets all done :-)

At first I thought she was just shape matching, which is still an awesome skill to have at this age, but then I realized she really does know the shape names too. If I say "find the heart" etc. she does it just perfectly!

There is another matching activity we like too. She matches the picture to the black and white outline card. It's funny b/c she picks up a picture card and studies it for a minute and then surveys the black and white picture sheet before carefully putting the picture in the right spot. Smarty pants :-)

Maybe all almost-2-year-olds can do this stuff....i have no idea. But she impresses me! I'm used to working with struggling learners at my job, so many of the kindergarteners I worked with couldn't do this stuff....but obviously they were behind.

Then there are still many activities she has to grow into...we're going to take them to play with cousin Sawyer some time b/c they are more for 3-4 year olds....like this pattern card. She's supposed to finish the pattern with the right picture card, but right now she just likes to velcro and unvelcro the cards

Then I made 2 alphabet cards--lowercase and upper case. You are supposed to call out a letter and they can circle it with an erasable marker or place a cheerio on the right one, etc. Right now she just likes to place cheerios on the letters and pretend she's saying the letter names. A, C, and I are her favorites haha...she says those for everything pretty much :-P

Then early math--Grandma, I think Sawyer might like this math game! You place raindrops on the card and then the kid is supposed to count the raindrops and pick the right number card
(This one is obviously completely over Raya's head haha)

She does like to count the picture cards with me though...

And lastly, now that Easter's over I made Raya a new sensory tub today. It was supposed to be red and blue macaroni, but the blue dye turned green on the yellow noodles, so now it looks christmas themed haha. Oh well. Raya liked exploring in the new sensory tub--she was starting to bore with the rice one from having played in it so much

So if you ever wonder (eh hem, LEE) what I do all day and why the house might be messy, it's because I am busy teaching my little student!! So thankful to be a stay at home mommy and get to do all this with my girls--wouldn't trade it for anything!!
