Blue(berry) Eyes

Just a quick update today, because the girls are with my mom and I've  been sewing most of the day!

First, I just had to share this conversation that Raya and Sawyer had as I drove them to Grandma's after preschool today.

Sawyer: Raya, you have brown eyes.
Raya: Yes....my eyes are brown!
Me: What color of eyes do *you* have Sawyer?
Sawyer: They are kind of greenish.
Raya: And my sissy Brielle has BLUEBERRY eyes!
Me: (laughing)....you mean *blue* eyes?
Raya: No mommy, I like to call them blueberry eyes. My sissy has blueberry eyes!
Sawyer: And you have brown-berry eyes!

(unstopable fit of giggles from both)

They make me laugh LOL :-)

In Raya's defense, Brielle does have the  most beautiful blue(berry) eyes I've ever seen!

This  pic was from a couple days ago...forgot to share!
Another funny, here is Brielle "singing" the I Love You song from Barney. She gets a goofy look on her face and she bobs her head back  side to side as she sings. It's so cute! She has the sweetest little  voice.

How hilarious is  that face?!

And the funniest  part? If *I* try to sing along she now does a "talk to the hand" motion and then says "no, stop it Shawna!"  LOL...she will  not stop calling me Shawna!!!  And after she tells me to stop it she immediately plasters her  sweetest smile back  onto her face  and continues singing (alone) :-P

Lastly today, we haven't  done a "what Raya wore" segment in awhile. Today to preschool Raya wore her new ballerina outfit from Gymboree! Gymboree's newest line is a ballerina line, and I love it! I limited myself to this one outfit when they had their circle of friends sale recently....but  I will definitely buy more of this line when it goes super cheap....maybe black friday will  bring some good sales for it :-)  The baby girl ballerina line isn't great in my opinion (because it's all ballerina bunnies and babyish stuff), but  the big  girl section has some awesome ballet stuff!

Raya LOVED her ballet outfit! Although she  did ask multiple times  where  the girl's  face was :-P

My pretty ballerina :-)
Still  no deer from Lee----the countdown has begun for  his  return home....only 3 more days!!!!! Mama is hanging in there, but getting pretty exhausted. Thank goodness for Grandma today!

To the beach anyone?

This morning I told Raya  she needed  to be good because I was taking her  to a special  surprise later.

She responded , "Oh, I know, we're going to the BEACH! And I will  need my bucket  and shovel to build sandcastles, and  my towel, and my....."

She was so excited lol.

So imagine  how worried I was that she would be mighty disappointed when we pulled  into the  Children's Museum instead today! haha. She took it well though ;-) Maybe we can do the beach tomorrow....you know, in 40 degree weather hehe.

The girls were AMAZING today---so well behaved and played so nice. We had an awesome day at the museum.

It was funny because  I dressed them matching today and one  lady  said "oh, I  see some little girls who must have just had their  pictures taken!"  ....and I laughed and said, "no, we just  like to match!" haha.

But  the funniest  thing was while the girls were playing Raya came up to me at one point quite  upset and said she wanted to go. Then she said "those people keep saying 'look  at those TWINS', and we are not  twins Mommy!"  haha...she was absolutely  horrified. I don't think she even knows what twins are, but  she was  under the impression that it was quite the insult. I  told her "well, just tell  them 'no, we're sisters!"  and she said "I did tell  them that--but they call  us twins!!!"

I forsee the matching sister outfits not lasting much longer  if this keeps up haha.

But  didn't they look  so stinkin' cute?

And how weird that I found both  these sweaters *used* at two different times and they just happened to be in the sizes I needed and in like new  condition for a few bucks each? From the  Gap---clearly  meant to be haha.
Before we left today the girls were being pretty goofy!

And I talked to Lee today---no deer as of yet. Halfway through his time away and nothing to show for it ;-P I told him when  he returns I'm going to spend a week downstairs in my office, but  not produce a single shirt LOL.

And my vote goes to....

....BRIELLE! Voted top make-up artist candidate, for doing an amazing job on Raya's makeup last night at our fancy "spa party" hehe.

Raya absolutely LOVED her little sister's handiwork :-)

"Do I have lipstick on my  teeth?"

The spa party last night was quite a success. I let Raya do Brielle's makeup and then  Brielle  got to do Raya's. They thought they were hot stuff  using Mama's makeup.

They  both love the powder brush!

We did nails  as well!

This was the first time I've  ever let Raya do her  own nails. She was so thrilled, and took  it *very* seriously haha.

We had to do our tootsies as well!

Blowing on her toes so they  will  dry lol

In other  news, today  with my neice and nephew here it's safe to say the house is being destroyed, as usual haha. I  even found a play credit card *inside* Brielle's diaper when I went to change her today! LOL...those little toy pieces really do get everywhere! :-P

Raya's poor bedroom after about 15 minutes of playing...

Which leads me  to this:

The ever growing  pile of toys to sell! As Christmas  approaches I want to warn you all---think carefully about what goes on your  kids' wish lists this year! I mean, really, why did I have so many baby toys?! haha. And they all look  brand new, so someone (not me) will be getting an awesome deal on "used" toys this year...and I"m wishing I could find someone with equally nice stuff for my girls' ages now so that I didn't have to waste money on new either!

Caillou isn't a baby toy, but I think we're also selling him. Remember how he was Raya's MUST HAVE toy from Santa last year? Well, she loved him in theory, but in actuality he totally confused her because she knew he wasn't a baby that you push in a stroller and feed a bottle (because he's 4 after all! ;-) ....but since he's a doll what else do you really do with him? And so for that reason he pretty much sits  unused. We'll  see  if I can sell him, considering Santa spent a pretty penny on that stinkin' doll! haha
Switching to a completely new  subject, I don't think Raya misses Lee at all  while he's gone...in fact, she s eems pretty thrilled with the steady stream of special activities we've been doing. First a spa party, and now today "baking" cookies!! (aka, putting them on a pan ;-)

Sugar  high! And they haven't even  eaten them  yet :-)

And now, some cousin lovin'

Harper's mom when to the presidential rally last night, and so  today Harper and Sawyer  were sportin' some political  pins hehe

And so there  you have  it---my very disjointed update today! And while I have now declared that  my vote goes to Miss Brielle, there is another vote taking place today (in case you hadn't heard :-)  ....and regarding *that* vote I would like to say this:

Happy election day! ;-)

Christmas Card

Raise your hand if you have your  Christmas cards ordered already...

Me! Me! Me! (waving hand)

Yep, how's this for productive. Had the girls dressed and  outside for a photoshoot by 8am haha. That's what happens when they wake up at 5:30!

This year I was bound and determined to have my cards done EARLY! I want to have them all addressed and ready to send out right after Thanksgiving. So today I made and ordered them...yay!

Unfortunately, as though it's not hard enough to get a 1 year old and 3 year old to stand still for a picture, I decided to attempt a more complicated holiday card that  involved holding items. (um, yeah, what was I thinking!?) So not only did I have about 1 million pics where one girl wasn't looking, but then out of the tiny handful of pictures where they were looking I had to find ones where  they were properly holding their items and not making weird faces.

Needless to say this card is kind of a hot mess lol. But  it's done and checked off my to do list!

I'll save the big reveal for December, but here's a sneak peek at a couple outtakes....enjoy!

And no, neither  girl was *supposed* to be doing this!

Other productive tasks complete today? Well I sold a big toy and got it out of our house! In case you didn't realize, if you have toys to sell now is the time! People are doinng Xmas shopping and I've been selling toys on facebook like crazy. Look up a local buy/sell group in your area and you can get lots of money to buy new toys for the kiddos!

I also have our pool table COVERED in toys to photograph and sell this week. Anything that isn't a favorite toy, played with at least once a week (really played with...not just dumped out haha), is being sold! I want only our favorite toys left so that when I redo our playroom after Christmas it's manageable. I also want money to buy the girls toys they really  want!

Lastly, after naptime this afternoon we are doing our spa day, as I mentioned yesterday. However after I posted I realized maybe some of you thought I meant we were going to an actual spa lol. Really the "spa" will be in our kitchen---I'm going to let  them play with my old makeup, nail polish, and hair stuff. Although when they are older I'd love to take them to a real spa for a girl's day! One of the great things about being a mom to girls---probably won't catch many elementary school boys hanging out with their  mom on a Saturday, but  I bet my girls would be happy to join me for a spa day at  that  age! :-)

The Great Paci Rescue

Picked up the girls from my parents' house tonight. Got home  and a short while  later found  Brielle sitting *in* her suitcase, which she  had gotten into in order to rescue her paci (which she knows is for her crib only!)

Looking mighty pleased with herself!

While the girls  were gone today "Santa" did some  shopping---got their play kitchen ordered!

Then I  tried to get some things  ready so that we can  take pictures for our Christmas card this week (I really  want to mail them out right after Thanksgiving this year!) ....I spent way too much time at Gymboree trying to get outfits to match a particular hat that I really  love---but alas I finally  picked  something and when the girls  tried the dresses on tonight they both hated them and complained they were uncomfortable haha. So I will be returning everything and I think just make do with some outfits we already have.

I do still love the hats though! Maybe I can pick them up dirt cheap after xmas or something for  next year

And remember how I  said that  Lee's  punishment for  leaving me home alone  for an insane amount of time was  that I'm going to have fun spending his money while he's away? Well  today Lee bought me a new purse---thanks honey! :-P

My only  purse had been a small crossbody fossil purse that  I really  love, but since I got rid of the diaper bag (yay!) I need to stick diapers for Brielle in my purse. And it was hard to shove much in the small  purse I had. So now I have a cute fossil purse in the big  style :-)  And don't worry Lee, I'm not picking  on you too bad....this purse was originally $110, on sale for $35---wahoo! Love a good bargain.

Tomorrow I  think the girls and I  are going to do a spa day and I'll let them do makeup, hair, and nails....Raya should be in seventh heaven!  But  still, hurry up daddy....come back  home!!!!! lol

Goodnight, sleep tight

It's early to bed for Miss Raya Marie tonight--looked over  at her  while she was watching her  show and saw this!

And what was Brielle doing at  this time? Sleeping  peacefully as well  I'm sure, right?

WRONG!

We had  kind of a crazy day today---running errands, meeting someone who  bought a bunch of our baby toys (yay!), Etsy shop stuff, ballet class for Raya....

And  then  tonight Lee left for a hunting trip, from which he will  return *next* Sunday. Oh yeah, talk about a looooong week ahead :-P

The girls and I will  be sure to go out daily to spend Daddy's money while  he's  gone though---that's the deal in this house! lol

Do you all  have  any  suggestions for me and the girls while  Daddy is  away? What are your favorite ways  to spend single mom time?! :-)

Lastly tonight, a couple random pics. First, Grandma F.  would want to see the  girls sporting their matching sweaters from Carters that  she  bought them! (Harper has the  same one in the yellow/green color).

And just because  it's so cute....Lee always has  the girls brush their  teeth during bath time.  Last night he called  me  in because they  had both started brushing their toys' teeth! How adorable is  that?

We'll try to maintain a little  modesty haha

And as a PPS (sorry for the randomness  of this update!) some  funny tidbits from the last  couple days:

1) Brielle calls me "Shawna" now haha. I  think it's because she hears Sawyer and Harper  call  me by my first name when they are here. But tonight she kept  saying "night night Shawna", and at my mom's  yesterday my mom was trying to get her  to say "I  love you Grandma" and instead  she kept saying "Shawna....me"  (meaning that she loved Shawna LOL).

2) Brielle constantly sings the "I love you" song from barney now....she gets stuck  on repeat saying the same couple lines over  and over, but she sways back  and  forth and bobs her head, really getting into the song! And then after  she has "sang" the song for  awhile she kisses the  air (for the part  that  says "and a kiss  from me  to  you") ....it's sooo cute. I  need  to find my video camera and tape it.

3) Today Raya was asking me about the toys we were selling and I told  her they  were baby toys that we didn't need  anymore. Well  later she found a toy at home and asked why I hadn't sold that  one too. I told her it was because Brielle still played with that one. Then Raya said "but Brielle  is a BIG baby...and this toy is for  little babies....little babies  are like teeny tiny ants and Brielle is not an ant....she's big"     LOL...good to know Raya ;-)

4) Today we stopped  to play  at the  mall and have lunch and while walking  through  the mall Raya walked past a mirror....she immediately stopped and declared "oh wow...I'm so cute!"  ....needless to say we got  a lot of laughs from people who saw her. Then a short  while later I lost Brielle, and  found her standing in front of a mirror saying  "me pretty"

....perhaps we need  to have a talk  about vanity ;-P

Have a great weekend everyone! Wish  me luck  as a single  parent.....
